Bishkek, Sept. 9, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the SCO in 2025–2026 marked a significant milestone for the country's multilateral diplomacy, President Sadyr Zhaparov said today.
Speaking in the Jogorku Kenesh, President Zhaparov noted that the 25th anniversary summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the high-level "SCO+" meeting took place in Bishkek.
During this same period, the state visit of the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, and the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, were successfully held.
Furthermore, the 6th World Nomad Games were hosted at a high level, placing Kyrgyzstan at the center of attention for the global political, cultural, and sports communities.
"This is clear evidence of Kyrgyzstan's growing international standing and the strengthening of its role in global and regional processes," Sadyr Zhaparov noted.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the SCO in 2025–2026 marked a significant milestone for the country's multilateral diplomacy.
"During our chairmanship, we advanced important work regarding security, sustainable development, transport, trade and economic cooperation, energy, digitalization, and humanitarian ties.
The world has begun to view Kyrgyzstan at a new level and in a new light. Interest in and trust toward our country are growing. Consequently, international attention focused on Kyrgyzstan will continue to intensify.
This represents both a great opportunity and a significant responsibility for us," President Zhaparov said.
The Head of State noted that one of the key achievements of recent years has been the strengthening of the country's economic foundation. According to him, the average annual economic growth rate over the past four years stood at 10.2 percent, demonstrating steady growth.
"This result is also confirmed by specific figures for 2026. In the first seven months of 2026, the real growth rate of the gross domestic product was 11.1 percent. This is one of the highest economic growth rates not only in Central Asia but also globally," Sadyr Zhaparov said.
