Bishkek, Aug. 20, 2026 /Kabar/. The anniversary summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Kyrgyzstan is of particular importance for several reasons, Artem Khan, an analyst at the independent think tank Grandview Institution in Beijing told on Birinchi Radio.
According to him, the SCO gained ground as a political and economic union, not just a platform for coordinating security issues.
"Geopolitical processes are making platforms like the SCO particularly relevant. Land, transport, and logistics links are becoming increasingly important and are attracting the attention of investors and major powers. "The SCO will be the forum for addressing these issues and coordinating efforts in trade and economic relations," the analyst noted.
Furthermore, Artem Khan noted the strengthening of Central Asia as an independent geopolitical player.
"Our countries' influence has grown, and we can advance our own interests at a much more serious level, he emphasized".
