Bishkek, July 24, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, the next meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states held in Cholpon-Ata under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev.
According to the department, the meeting coincided with the 25th anniversary of the SCO and was the final stage of preparations for the organization's summit in Bishkek. Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the SCO is held under the motto "25 years of the SCO: together for lasting peace, development and prosperity."
The ministers discussed topical issues on the international and regional agenda, ensuring security and stability in the SCO space, trade and economic cooperation, transport communications, energy, digitalization, and the development of cultural and humanitarian ties.
"In the context of growing geopolitical tensions and a crisis of confidence in international relations, the ministers noted the need to join forces to build a just multipolar world order, ensure security, stability and sustainable development. They also reaffirmed the common position of the SCO member states on the importance of strengthening the central role of the UN in maintaining international peace and security, as well as compliance with the Charter of the Organization," the statement says.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in combating terrorism, extremism, separatism, transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, cybercrime and other modern challenges and threats.
As part of the economic agenda, it was noted that consultations on the establishment of the SCO Development Bank were progressing to support joint investment, infrastructure and transport and logistics projects. In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the events held under the chairmanship of Kyrgyz Republic, including the SCO International Issyk-Kul Marathon and the Issyk-Kul International Forum dedicated to the legacy of Chingiz Aitmatov, were highly appreciated.
In addition, special attention was paid to the issue of preparing for the upcoming meeting of the heads of state of SCO. The ministers agreed on the main set of documents to be submitted for consideration by the leaders of the member states of the organization.
The previous meeting once again confirmed the common aspiration of the SCO member states to strengthen peace, stability, good-neighborly relations, as well as joint development on the basis of mutual respect and concerted efforts.
