Bishkek, July 24, 2026. /Kabar/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed confidence that the upcoming meeting of SCO heads and the "SCO plus" meeting will be the highlight of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the organization.

He made this statement today, July 24, in Cholpon-Ata, during a meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, which was attended by the foreign ministers of SCO member states.

"I have no doubt that the meeting of heads of state and the 'SCO plus' meeting will be the culmination of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship. This will usher in a new stage in the organization's evolution and add further momentum to our joint efforts to address the challenges facing the SCO," Lavrov said.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also thanked the Kyrgyz side for the warm welcome and hospitality.

Furthermore, he noted the importance of the decision to include English among the official and working languages of the SCO.

"This is particularly significant for the further expansion of the organization and strengthening its international positioning, and will also ensure more comfortable work for a number of our colleagues. Of course, the budgetary parameters for this decision have yet to be determined, but I am confident that we will find the necessary solutions," Sergey Lavrov emphasized.
