Bishkek, March 20, 2025. /Kabar /. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), paid a working visit to Mongolia on 17-20 March 2025 upon the invitation of the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This historic visit marked the first-ever trip of an OTS Secretary General to Mongolia, highlighting the growing engagement between Mongolia and the OTS Member States.
Throughout the visit, Secretary General Omuraliev held high-level meetings with Mongolian officials, diplomats, and scholars to discuss avenues for enhanced cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and academic fields.
Secretary General Omuraliev began his visit with a meeting with Battsetseg Batmunkh, Minister of Foreign Affairs. The discussions focused on strengthening Mongolia-OTS cooperation, emphasizing shared historical bonds and deep-rooted relations.
During the meeting with Zandanshatar Gombojav, Chief of the Office of the President of Mongolia, the Secretary General underscored the historical connections between the Turkic and Mongolian peoples and discussed the potential for elevating Mongolia’s engagement with OTS Member States to a strategic level.
At the meeting with Byambajargal Altangerel, Secretary of the National Security Council of Mongolia, the discussions focused on regional security, Mongolia’s ‘Third Neighbor’ strategy, and opportunities to deepen collaboration between Mongolia and OTS Member States.
The Secretary General met with Regdel Duger to discuss strengthening parliamentary relations and cooperation within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA).
In addition, the Secretary General had an insightful exchange with Former President Enkhbayar Nambar on regional developments and Mongolia’s growing ties with OTS Member States.
Besides, during a formal dinner hosted by Başak Genç Yüksel, Ambassador of Türkiye to Mongolia, the Secretary General met with Gabit Koishibayev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan, and Aibek Artykbaev, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan. The gathering provided an opportunity to exchange views on the role of Mongolia in the Turkic World and avenues for closer cooperation.
Secretary General Omuraliev visited the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, where he delivered a keynote speech at the Guest of Honour Podium. He provided insights into OTS’s activities, its collaboration with international organizations, and the importance of academic partnerships in strengthening historical and cultural ties between Mongolia and the Turkic World. The Secretary General also met with directors of the Institute of History and Ethnology and the Institute of Archaeology, where discussions focused on enhancing academic cooperation.
In addition to official meetings, Secretary General Omuraliev visited key historical and cultural sites, including the Chinggis Khaan Museum and the Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex. These visits reinforced the shared historical heritage between Mongolia and the Turkic World.
The visit of Secretary General Omuraliev to Mongolia marked a significant milestone in the deepening ties between Mongolia and the OTS. During the meetings, the commitment to expanding cooperation in various fields was reaffirmed, and Mongolia's active participation in regional initiatives within the framework of the OTS was emphasized.
