On 13 June 2026, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Mr. Merey Mukazhan, addressed the 3rd Meeting of the Heads of Competition Authorities of the OTS in Shusha, Azerbaijan.
In his speech, the Deputy Secretary General highlighted Shusha as a symbol of Turkic solidarity and emphasized the critical role of competition authorities in addressing modern challenges such as digital market complexities and anti-competitive practices. He noted that while the combined GDP of the Turkic World has surpassed USD 2.4 trillion, there remains significant room to grow intra-regional trade through harmonized competition policies and economic integration.
Mr. Mukazhan also praised the completion of a joint publication on competition policy in Agriculture and food sector—an initiative from the previous meeting in Budapest—and underscored the importance of the Turkic Investment Fund and the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement in building a modern economic architecture. He called for a regional competition framework to drive innovation and enhance the collective competitiveness of Member States.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Communiqué of the 3rd Meeting of the Heads of Competition Authorities of the OTS, marking a renewed commitment to fair competition and regional economic stability.
