Bishkek, Feb. 9, 2026. /Kabar/. The problem of clean water in Issyk-Kul region will be completely resolved within 3 years, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev stated at the opening of a clean water facility built in Toru-Aigyr village.

According to him, from 2024, the department of clean water systems will be transferred to the jurisdiction of the ministry, and systematic and large-scale work will begin in this area. Previously, the problem of clean water was not sufficiently addressed, in some regions the system did not exist at all, funds were not allocated from the republican budget, and work was carried out mainly only at the expense of external donors.

"Over the past two years, we have fully assumed this responsibility. Today, work has begun on the construction of clean water systems in 600 villages across Kyrgyzstan. This is the result of the state's priority policy aimed at improving the quality of life of the people," said Bakyt Torobaev.

The minister noted that the construction and modernization of clean water and wastewater facilities is being implemented within the framework of the National Development Program until 2030, adopted at the initiative of President Sadyr Zhaparov. Since 2021, a total of $512 million has been attracted to this sector from the republican budget and investment sources.

"Currently, construction projects have been developed in 600 villages and 25 cities, and clean water systems are being built in 40 villages. Sewerage systems are also being built in 3 cities to remove wastewater. Currently, the problem of clean water has not been fully resolved in 72 villages in the Issyk-Kul region. Of these, 15 villages are located in the Ak-Suu district. Feasibility studies are being prepared and an examination is being conducted for the remaining villages. "Within three years, the problem of clean water in the Issyk-Kul region will be completely resolved," he said.
