Bishkek, May 12, 2026. /Kabar/. Spring field work is underway in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry.
Currently, 609.1 thousand hectares of land have been plowed across the republic, and the spring sowing plan has been fulfilled by 48.7 percent. This indicator is 73.9 thousand hectares more than in the same period last year.
The total estimated area of sowing agricultural crops in 2026 is 1 million 250 thousand hectares.
Indicators by region:
- Batken region: work is almost complete, the plan has been reached by 96.4%.
- Chui region: the largest area has been cultivated, 204.7 thousand hectares (45.3%) have been sown.
- Osh region: 99.9 thousand hectares (55.3%).
- Issyk-Kul region: 97.6 thousand hectares (53.6%).
- Jalal-Abad region: cotton sowing has been completed by 100%.
408.6 thousand hectares have been sown with grain seeds, the plan has been completed by 78.7 percent (including wheat - 90.7%, barley - 87.4%). Corn has been sown on 82.7 percent of the planned area. Sugar beet has been sown on 10.9 thousand hectares (74.9%), and potato and vegetable sowing has exceeded 73 percent.
The ministry said that this season, field work is being organized in accordance with agrotechnical deadlines. Farmers are being provided with seeds, fuels and lubricants, and irrigation water on time. Special emphasis is also being placed on the use of modern agricultural technologies to increase yields.
