Bishkek, July 21, 2026 /Kabar/. Despite government support measures, thousands of families in Kyrgyzstan continue to live in areas with a high risk of landslides, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
According to the ministry, as of March 30, 3,800 families live in landslide-prone areas in the country. Of these, 2,415 families have not yet relocated to safer areas, despite receiving state-provided land plots and assistance.
The largest number of such families is registered in Osh region. There are 2,396 families in risk zones, of which 1,475 have not yet moved to safer areas.
The ministry reminds that landslides most often intensify in the spring due to melting snow and heavy rainfall. However, the danger remains in the fall, when prolonged rainfall can trigger landslides.
The ministry urges citizens not to live in landslide-prone areas, to heed official warnings, and to promptly move to safer areas.
