Bishkek, Oct. 12, 2026 /Kabar/. On October 10, Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov visited the Toktogul Hydropower Plant (HPP) during a working trip to the Jalal-Abad region. He reviewed the implementation of the project to commission the second generating unit (Unit No. 2) at Kambar-Ata HPP-2, as well as construction work on preparatory facilities for Kambar-Ata HPP-1.

According to the ministry, during his visit to Toktogul HPP, the minister inspected the condition of the power equipment, the progress of repair work, and measures taken to prepare the plant for the 2026–2027 autumn-winter season.

It is noted that the modernization project involved upgrading all four of the plant's generating units, with the capacity of each unit increased from 300 MW to 360 MW.

As a result, the plant's total installed capacity rose from 1,200 MW to 1,440 MW, boosting generation capacity by 240 MW, enhancing equipment reliability, and strengthening Kyrgyzstan's energy security.

At Kambar-Ata HPP-2, the minister reviewed the progress of the project to commission the second generating unit, an initiative of great importance for expanding the country's generation capacity and improving the reliability of the energy supply.

As part of the working trip, Altynbek Rysbekov also inspected the current stage of construction on preparatory facilities for Kambar-Ata HPP-1, paying particular attention to work progress and the execution of planned activities. It is known that, following visits to energy facilities, appropriate instructions were issued to the responsible executives.
