Bishkek, July 15, 2026 /Kabar/. Around 20,000 people pass through the Ak-Zhol-Avtodorozhny checkpoint daily due to the tourist season, according to Azat Mamatkulov, head of the Ak-Zhol-Avtodorozhny checkpoint.
According to him, approximately 10,000 people each cross the border from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
"Since the beginning of summer, approximately 10,000-13,000 people have been crossing the state border daily. "The flow has increased now because the tourist season has begun, with people traveling to Issyk-Kul. A further flow of people is also expected due to SCO events and the World Nomad Games," Mamatkulov said.
He noted that this year's peak was during the May holidays, when the flow reached 25,000 people. This was due to citizens traveling to Almaty and Tashkent.
He noted that there are currently 8-10 passport control rooms in the processing halls, and there are no queues at the checkpoint.
"We strive to process people as quickly as possible to avoid queues. Document verification takes up to one minute, a minute at most, and the inspection of a single passenger vehicle takes about five minutes," he said.
According to Mamatkulov, approximately 20-30 people are denied entry across the state border daily due to violations and restrictions. The main reasons for this are forged documents, the absence of a power of attorney for children, or attempts to cross the border using someone else's documents.
