Bishkek, March 24, 2026. /Kabar/. In 2025, a slight increase in tuberculosis cases among adolescents was observed in Kyrgyzstan, Abdullaat Kadyrov, Director of the National Phthisiology Center told Kabar.

According to him, while 145 adolescents contracted tuberculosis in the country in 2024, this number increased to 156 young people in 2025.

"According to WHO data, there is a trend toward an increase in the incidence of tuberculosis among adolescents worldwide. This issue has been raised at many international conferences, where healthcare professionals and scientists have concluded that this is due to the restructuring of the endocrine and immune systems during adolescence. "As we know, absolutely everyone is at risk of infection, especially people with weakened immune systems," explained Abdullaat Kadyrov.
