Turning inventions into business: Kyrgyzstan uses Korean experience

Bishkek, July 9, 2026. /Kabar/. In Geneva, Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation Gulzat Isamatova met with Minister of Intellectual Property of Korea Kim Yong-seon.

According to the department, the bilateral meeting took place within the framework of the 68th session of the World Intellectual Property Organization Assembly.

The parties discussed the issues of digitizing the intellectual property sector and using AI in conducting expertise.

It is also planned to exchange experiences on the proper management of intellectual property and commercialization of scientific research results at universities.

The ministers highly appreciated the results of the projects already implemented and currently underway in Kyrgyzstan with the support of the Korean Invention Promotion Association (KIPA).

As a result of the talks, it was agreed to sign a memorandum on comprehensive cooperation between the ministries of the two countries. This document will serve as the basis for bringing the Kyrgyz-Korean partnership to a new level.
