UN highly appreciates Kyrgyzstan's efforts in sustainable development

Bishkek, Feb. 3, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, the Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu received UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Antje Grawe. According to Kyrgyz Parliament, the meeting discussed issues of developing relations between Kyrgyzstan and the UN, joint projects and future plans.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu noted that Kyrgyzstan has been actively cooperating with the UN in all areas: "We are interested in further implementing joint projects in various fields and developing the established partnership. As the main legislative body, the Jogorku Kenesh is also ready to closely cooperate and work," he said.

Speaker also noted the growth of the country's economy and said that the plans planned until 2030 will be implemented with the instructions of the president and the support of the parliament.

In turn, the UN representative emphasized his constant interest in cooperation with the parliament. At the same time, Antje Grawe, who highly appreciated Kyrgyzstan's efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, added that he would pay special attention to developing partnerships in this area.

Antje Grawe highly appreciated the work of the parliament committee on women and children's rights and promised to assist in holding international events.

At the same meeting, the issue of gender equality was also raised, and the chairman stated that Kyrgyzstan would pay close attention to this issue.

"A lot of work is being done to increase the role of women in public and political life. For example, in the VIII convocation, a 30 percent quota was allocated for women, and every third seat was filled by female deputies. This phenomenon does not exist even in the leading countries of the world, which are called democratic," he said.
