Uzbek transport minister arrives to discuss CKU railway project

Bishkek, July 28, 2026 /Kabar/. The Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, Talantbek Soltoboev met with the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Ilkhom Makhkamov, at the Manas railway station, the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications reports.

On July 28-29, the heads of the two countries' transport departments will visit the main sites of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway under construction in Kyrgyzstan and review the progress of construction.

During the visit, the parties will discuss the construction of tunnels, bridges, and other infrastructure facilities, the pace of work, and upcoming challenges.

The ministers will also discuss current issues related to the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project and exchange views on ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of construction work.

The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project is of strategic importance and aims to strengthen transport links between the three countries, expand Kyrgyzstan's transit potential, and create a new international transport corridor.
