Uzbekistan has unveiled plans to allow its citizens to temporarily bring foreign-registered vehicles into the country for non-commercial (personal) use, subject to the payment of applicable customs duties.

A presidential decree signed on August 27 formally instructs the relevant authorities to draft the necessary legislation on this matter, with a deadline of December 2027.

Additionally, by June 2027, the decree mandates the digitisation of customs penalty procedures. Individuals will be able to review decisions on fines, receive notifications about preferential payment deadlines, and make payments through the "Customs Fine" mobile application.

Separately, the decree introduces a general rule for non-commercial goods brought in by individuals (which includes vehicles).
