The death toll from the two devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to at least 1,719, according to an announcement on Monday by Jorge Rodríguez, President of the National Assembly, WAM reported.
Rodríguez said that 5,034 people had been injured in the two earthquakes, while thousands remain missing.
According to United Nations estimates, around 50,000 people are unaccounted for, as search operations continue for possible survivors.
