Water quality testing laboratory opens in Bishkek

Bishkek, June 23, 2026 /Kabar/. The opening of a modern drinking water quality testing laboratory took place at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy(KSMA).

According to the healthcare ministry, the new laboratory is equipped with modern analytical equipment that allows for testing drinking water for sanitary-chemical, microbiological, and other indicators in accordance with national and international standards.

The opening of the laboratory will be an important step in the development of Kyrgyzstan's public health system. It will train future doctors and specialists, acquire practical research skills, and conduct water quality monitoring and scientific research.

Representatives of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health, KSMA leadership, partner organizations, and industry specialists participated in the opening ceremony.

KSMA Rector Indira Kudaibergenova expressed gratitude to the World Bank, ARIS, and KOICA for their support and equipping the laboratory with modern equipment.

The new facility will be used for student training, scientific research, water analysis in centralized and decentralized water supply systems, and the implementation of state programs in public health and environmental safety.

The opening of the laboratory is a contribution to the health of the nation, the development of medical education, and the introduction of modern scientific approaches to the drinking water quality control system.
