Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2026. /Kabar/. A roundtable on the role of women in promoting good-neighborliness and sustainable development between Kyrgyzstan and China was held in Bishkek on Thursday.
The event brought together representatives of government agencies, the diplomatic corps, business and academic communities, women's organizations and entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan and China.
Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping said cooperation between women has become an important part of relations between the two countries.
According to her, the All-China Women's Federation and the Congress of Women of Kyrgyzstan have maintained close cooperation for many years. The Chinese Embassy also supports projects aimed at expanding opportunities for Kyrgyz women, including computer courses, vocational training and the provision of equipment to women's crisis centers.
This year, as part of the SCO Women's Forum, the All-China Women's Federation and the Congress of Women of Kyrgyzstan also launched a Kyrgyz-Chinese beauty salon project. Chinese specialists visited Kyrgyzstan to share their professional skills and experience with local women.
Liu Jiangping noted that China pays particular attention to women's development. More than 99.9% of school-age girls in China attend school, while about 27 million women study at higher educational institutions, accounting for 50.8% of all university students.
President of the Congress of Sinologists of Kyrgyzstan Kanaiym Baktygulova said women's cooperation is becoming an increasingly important component of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations.
She highlighted prospects for creating new women's business networks between Kyrgyzstan and China, implementing joint educational and digital programs, and developing cooperation in e-commerce, tourism, creative industries and light industry.
“Supporting women is not only a social task. It is an investment in the economic future of the country,” Baktygulova said.
The roundtable also presented regional projects of the Congress of Women of Kyrgyzstan, including branches of the Kyrgyz-Chinese Digitalization Center for Women in Batken, Jalal-Abad, Naryn and Issyk-Kul regions, as well as sewing centers in Jalal-Abad and Batken regions.
As part of the event, the Congress of Women of the Kyrgyz Republic presented sewing machines to the Kyrgyz Council of Craftsmen and the Dinar Brand KG ethnic studio on a grant basis. Honorary members of the Congress were also awarded medals for leadership, labor valor and exemplary motherhood.
Participants discussed prospects for further expanding Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation, developing joint economic and humanitarian initiatives, introducing innovations and digital technologies, supporting women's entrepreneurship, and strengthening the role of women in public diplomacy.
Following the roundtable, participants developed proposals and recommendations aimed at further strengthening the partnership, implementing joint initiatives, and promoting friendship, peace and good-neighborly relations between Kyrgyzstan and China.
