Bishkek, July 24, 2026. /Kabar/. Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, visited the Wool KG wool processing plant in Bishkek.

The plant receives, washes, and processes local wool, produces combed wool, and is also implementing a project to expand its production capacity.

Wool KG currently purchases approximately 400 tons of wool annually from farmers and wool processors in Issyk-Kul, Naryn, Talas, and Chui regions. The plant employs 71 people, and after the expansion project is completed, it plans to create over 50 new jobs.

It is noted that the project will increase the processing volume of domestic raw materials within the country, increase the added value of products, and expand export opportunities.

During the visit, Erlist Akunbekov was introduced to the production process and emphasized that the development of deep wool processing is a priority area of state policy.

"Our main goal is not to export raw materials, but to process them domestically and increase production of finished goods. This will create a stable market for farmers, create new jobs, and promote the development of the processing industry. The Ministry remains committed to supporting such initiatives," the minister noted.
