Bishkek, July 10, 2026 /Kabar/. In order to facilitate and make the admission process of foreign students more transparent, a single digital platform called EDUGATE is being implemented, Aizada Urumova, Deputy director of Admission Center of Foreign Students.
According to her, previously each higher education institution admitted foreign citizens independently. Various document forms and communication methods were used, and applicants had difficulties in monitoring the status of their applications.
“That is why the EDUGATE platform has been developed for the admission of foreign citizens. It allows the applicant to go through all stages of admission and manage the process in one place. Through it, a foreign applicant can register, upload documents, choose an educational institution, and monitor the admission and visa processes online. The general admission process consists of 18 steps,” he said.
These include:
- registration;
- uploading documents;
- choosing a university and specialty;
- checking documents;
- interview;
- receiving an invitation;
- resolving visa issues;
- registering and obtaining insurance upon arrival in Kyrgyzstan.
The platform includes separate offices for the applicant, the university, the Center for Admission of Foreign Students, and government agencies.
Aizada Urumova also reported that over the past five years, more than 30 thousand applications have been received from foreign citizens in higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan, and more than 29 thousand students have been accepted. Currently, foreign students are studying in more than 60 higher education institutions, and their number is being replenished with citizens of about 50-60 countries.
