Belarus welcomes signing Agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on State border

Bishkek, March 19, 2025. /Kabar /. The Republic of Belarus welcomes the signing in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, of the Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan on the State border, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus said in its statement.

“The settlement of the differences between our two brotherly and friendly nations and the granting to the Kyrgyz-Tajik border the status of a border of eternal friendship has become a truly historic event, creating a solid basis for strengthening good-neighborliness and stability throughout Central Asia. The Belarusian side expresses its full support for the constructive initiatives of the leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and stands ready to continue to provide the necessary assistance in strengthening peace and regional security,” the statement said.

The agreement on the state border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed in Bishkek on March 13 by Presidents of the two countries Sadyr Zhaparov and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The signing ceremony was held in Bishkek during Rahmon's state visit to Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, a ceremony was held to resume the work of two checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. The presidents of the two countries took part in the ceremony via video link.

The border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was closed after an armed border conflict in May 2021.
