Beyond the Silk Road: Film about Kyrgyzstan with Dominic West screened in London

Bishkek, Feb. 26, 2026. /Kabar/. On February 25, the world premiere of a documentary about Kyrgyzstan with the participation of famous actor Dominic West took place at the legendary VUE Cinema in London.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy, this project, called "Beyond the Great Silk Road", will introduce the culture and nature of the country to the international community.

The solemn event was attended by the film crew, representatives of the cultural community and Deputy Minister of Culture Timurlan Azhymaliev. Azhymaliev noted that this project is of great importance in introducing the rich historical heritage and unique culture of Kyrgyzstan to the world.

Synopsis: The film tells the story of Dominic West's journey along the Great Silk Road - from Bishkek to Sary-Chelek, Tash-Rabat and the Torugart pass.

The films shows: the life of nomads, the epic "Manas", national games (goat wrestling), the art of eagle hunting and Kyrgyz crafts.

"This large-scale series, directed by Laura Jones, aims to promote the tourist and cultural potential of Kyrgyzstan at the international level. The film depicts the country as a unique region where ancient traditions and modern development are combined," the report says.

Dominic West is a BAFTA Award winner and a nominee for the Golden Globe, Emmy, and other prestigious international film awards.
