Bishkek, July 31, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, July 31, an informal consultative meeting of Central Asian states' heads and Azerbaijan took place in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region.
The event was attended by President Sadyr Zhaparov, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Opening the meeting, President Sadyr Zhaparov noted that in recent years, historical agreements have been reached regarding state borders and regional cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level due to the strengthening of mutual trust.
The president paid special attention to the development of transport interconnections and energy cooperation, emphasizing the strategic importance of the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, as well as the importance of implementing the Kambar-Ata-1 hydroelectric power plant project jointly with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Sadyr Zhaparov also touched upon the great opportunities for cooperation in the tourism sector. He noted Kyrgyzstan's initiative to introduce a single tourist visa for foreign citizens visiting the Central Asian countries and stressed the importance of developing agreed solutions in this area.
The president of Kyrgyzstan also highly appreciated Turkmenistan's chairmanship in the format of the Consultative Meetings and expressed the Kyrgyz side's readiness to work together for the successful holding of the Eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, which will be held in Avaza on October 8, 2026.
The heads of state paid special attention to further deepening cooperation, developing transport and logistics interconnection, adapting to climate change and ensuring regional energy security, and exchanged views on topical issues.
After the speech, the presidents signed the Cholpon-Ata Declaration.
Summing up the results of the Informal Consultative Meeting, President Sadyr Zhaparov said that the signed declaration reflects the high level of mutual trust between the Central Asian states and Azerbaijan, their commitment to the principles of peace, good neighborliness and sustainable development, as well as their desire to further expand regional cooperation.
