Bishkek, July 1, 2025. /Kabar/. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic - Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev held a meeting with the participation of heads of relevant state and municipal bodies, as well as enterprises with a state share on the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project.

Bakyt Torobaev reported that today, full-scale construction work officially began in Kyrgyzstan along the entire length of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan international railway, which is 304 km.

"Today, June 30, is a wonderful day for the Kyrgyz Republic. Full-scale construction work has begun along the entire length of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan international railway. Let me remind you that on April 29 of this year, the ceremony to launch the construction of key facilities of this railway took place. This project is not only of infrastructural importance; it is aimed at improving the quality of life, economic growth and strengthening ties between regions and peoples. In this regard, I instruct the heads of the relevant government agencies to promptly resolve issues that arise locally and promptly report this to the presidential administration," said Bakyt Torobaev.

During the meeting, more than ten issues arising during the construction process were considered, and relevant instructions were given to the relevant government agencies for their prompt resolution.

The length of the railway section passing through the territory of Kyrgyzstan is more than 304 km, and the total cost of construction is estimated at 4 billion 700 million US dollars. This project is one of the most complex engineering structures: about 40% of the railways will pass through tunnels and bridges - it is planned to build 27 tunnels and 41 bridges. Completion of all work is scheduled for 2030.

On December 27, 2024, the official start of the construction of the railway was given. Then, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, Chairman of the PRC Xi Jinping and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev made addresses on the occasion of the start of the project, emphasizing the importance of the project for the entire region.
