Bishkek, Nov. 4, 2026 /Kabar/. China has authorized the import of three types of fresh berries from Kyrgyzstan: raspberries, blackcurrants, and blackberries. This creates new opportunities for domestic producers and exporters, according to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Ministry said that on August 31, 2026, a protocol regarding plant quarantine and phytosanitary requirements for berry shipments was signed between Kyrgyzstan and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.
Based on this document, the Chinese side issued official announcement No. 149 on October 20, authorizing the import of fresh raspberries, blackcurrants, and blackberries from Kyrgyzstan.
To begin exports, the Kyrgyz side must submit a list of berry cultivation sites and packing facilities. These must comply with established phytosanitary requirements and be registered with the Chinese authorities. The General Administration of Customs of the PRC is prepared to complete the registration process as quickly as possible. In light of this, the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine under the Ministry of Agriculture urges farmers who grow raspberries, currants, and blackberries, as well as owners of packing facilities, to contact the Department or its regional branches to complete the necessary procedures.
