Bishkek, Feb. 12, 2025. /Kabar/. First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Asein Isaev met with Regional Director of UN Women for Europe and Central Asia Belen Sanz.
The Foreign Ministry reported that during the meeting the sides discussed current issues and promising areas of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and UN Women. Isaev noted that women in Kyrgyzstan have always made a significant contribution to the development and prosperity of the state.
Isaev also noted that today Kyrgyz women are a significant driving force in the successful implementation of economic and political reforms in the country.
In addition, the first deputy minister noted the contribution of UN Women to the implementation of gender policy in the country and its further promotion, including in accordance with the agenda of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. Asein Isaev informed about the legislative acts adopted by the state in the field of prevention and combating violence against women and girls.
Belen Sans expressed gratitude for organizing the meeting and noted that this visit to Kyrgyzstan is the first since her appointment to the post in March 2024.
She outlined the important role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and the integration of the gender dimension into international cooperation policy. In addition, Sans informed about the planned launch of the Zero Violence Against Women and Girls program for 2025-2027.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue further fruitful cooperation.
