February 2026 in Ashgabat could be among warmest on record

According to preliminary forecasters, February 2026 in Ashgabat will be one of the warmest months on record. There's a 40-55% chance it will be the warmest month ever, and a 60-75% chance it will tie the 1999 record, Orient reported.

The expected average monthly temperature is 11.0-11.2°C. The current record for the warmest February is 11.1°C (53.5°F). For comparison, other warm years have seen lower temperatures: 10.3°C (1953), 9.9°C (1955 and 2004), and 9.3°C (2006), according to the weather journal.

This month, the maximum temperature reached 29.7°C (82.5°F). Daily maximum temperature records were broken between February 18 and 20.

According to observations, over the past 24 days of the month, the average daily temperature has consistently remained at or above the climatic norm. On most days, the average daily temperature exceeded the long-term average.

Precipitation in February remains below the monthly average. Precipitation was short-term and moderate.

Experts note that such temperature fluctuations reflect the characteristics of the current season and the formation of stable warm air masses in the region.
