Bishkek, Sept. 15, 2026 /Kabar/. Minister of Finance of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Suinaliev met with the World Bank Najy Benhassine, the World Bank's Director for the Central Asia region.
According to the ministry, the parties discussed the current state of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank, as well as prospects for its further expansion.
During the talks, special attention was paid to the country's macroeconomic situation, sustainable economic growth rates, and the financing of major projects in priority development areas. Minister Ruslan Suynaliev noted that Kyrgyzstan’s GDP grew by 11.1% in the first seven months of 2026, highlighting that the state budget is running a surplus and investment in infrastructure, social, and energy projects continues to rise.
Furthermore, the participants exchanged views on the implementation of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 project, budget support, and additional financing under the IDA-21 program.
The minister highly appreciated the World Bank's support in advancing the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 project. Discussions also covered intensifying cooperation on the AgriConnect initiative, which aims to develop agriculture in Kyrgyzstan.
Particular attention was also given to international assessments such as CPIA and Business Ready. The parties discussed the continued advancement of reforms aimed at improving public administration and public financial management systems, as well as enhancing the business environment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank, expanding cooperation on new major projects, and fostering the country's sustainable development.
