Financial literacy of Kyrgyzstanis increases by 4%

Bishkek, Sept. 11, 2026. /Kabar/. The overall financial literacy score of the adult population of Kyrgyzstan increased by 4% in 2025 compared to 2021, reaching 11.8 points out of a possible 20, the National Bank reported following the third national financial literacy survey.

According to data, the main increase was recorded in financial knowledge, with the score increasing by 10% over four years. This indicates an improved understanding of key economic concepts and financial instruments.

The financial behavior score increased by 3%, reaching 69%, demonstrating a more rational approach by most citizens to managing their finances.

At the same time, the financial attitude indicator decreased by 8%. It reflects respondents' subjective assessments of their attitudes toward long-term financial matters. According to the study, this may indicate that most citizens are focused on immediate needs, without developing long-term financial goals and plans, or are experiencing increased financial uncertainty.

The study also covers indicators of financial well-being, financial resilience, digital financial literacy, and financial inclusion.

It is noted that the study was conducted with the support of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, using the OECD's international methodology, as part of efforts to improve citizens' financial literacy.

Similar studies were conducted in 2017 and 2021, allowing for long-term tracking of these indicators.
