Bishkek, July 23, 2026 /Kabar/. Fish population increased in Issyk-Kul in 2026, according to Kylychbek Tentimishev, head of the Issyk-Kul Regional Administration of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Technical Supervision.
According to him, not only the fish population has increased, but also the size of individual fish.
He also reported that during the first half of 2026, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Technical Supervision removed more than 50,000 meters of old synthetic fishing nets from the lake. By comparison, this figure for all of 2025 was 47,500 meters.
Furthermore, in the first half of this year, 1,250 kilograms of household waste was removed from the lake bed. The discovered trash included dumbbells, kettlebells, car tires, shock absorbers, and other items.
"All waste removed from the lake is accumulated and then transported to the waste incineration plant in Bishkek, where it is disposed of," Kylychbek Tentimishev reported.
