Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2026 /Kabar/. A national dialogue on climate change and nature conservation took place in Bishkek. The event was dedicated to preparations for upcoming international UN meetings on climate and biodiversity.

Accordingt to the Kyrgyzhydromet service, representatives from government agencies, the UN system, international organizations, the scientific and expert community, financial institutions, and other stakeholders participated in the dialogue.

Particular attention was paid to Kyrgyzstan's agenda regarding mountainous regions. It was noted that, given the direct impact of climate change on glaciers, water resources, mountain ecosystems, and the risk of hazardous natural phenomena, the development of hydrometeorological monitoring, forecasting, and early warning systems is crucial.

Discussions also covered issues such as climate change adaptation, the preservation of glaciers and mountain ecosystems, sustainable natural resource management, scientific monitoring, and expanding access to international climate finance.

Participants emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation among hydrometeorological services, emergency response agencies, the water and agricultural sectors, the scientific community, international partners, and local communities to ensure climate resilience.
