Bishkek, Feb. 11, 2026 /Kabar/. Ceremony to hand over equipment as part of the Improvement of road maintenance equipment and road surfaces project was held in Batken region today.

According to the oblast administration, the event was attended by Japanese Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Hirano Ryuichi, Permanent Representative of JICA in the Kyrgyz Republic Nishigato Kotaro, First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Beknazar Bazaraliev, Batken governor Aibek Shamenov, and representatives of local authorities.

With the support of JICA, 43 units of road construction and maintenance equipment were donated to Batken. Asphalt mixing plant with capacity of 35 tons per hour was also installed.

"We highly value this cooperation. Despite Japan's distance from our country, it demonstrates in actions that it is always close by."

"JICA is a reliable partner in expanding cooperation in all areas," the regional head noted.

It is noted that the launch of the asphalt concrete plant will ensure the timely and high-quality supply of necessary materials for road construction and repair, while modern equipment will significantly speed up road maintenance.

"In 2025, 84 km of roads were paved and 56 km of gravel roads were laid in Batken oblast. This year, 300 km of roads are planned to be paved, and 100 km of gravel roads are planned to be built and repaired," Batken governor emphasized.
