Bishkek, April 15, 2025. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Transport and Communications today signed a contract with a Japanese company as part of the Improvement of International Highway Project.
The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Transport and Communications Absattar Syrgabaev, his deputy Beknazar Bazaraliev, Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan Goda Hideki, Permanent Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Kyrgyzstan Kawamoto Hiroyuki, and other officials.
As part of the project, a contract was signed with the Japanese company Takenaka Civil Engineering for the construction of a 750-meter tunnel on the 400th kilometer of the Bishkek-Osh highway.
In his speech, Minister Syrgabaev expressed sincere gratitude to the Government of Japan and JICA for their contribution to the development of Kyrgyzstan's transport infrastructure.
The parties confirmed their readiness for high-quality and timely implementation of the project.
The start of construction work is scheduled for June 2025.
