Bishkek, Jan. 28, 2026. /Kabar/. Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) approved the draft law "On Ratification of the Loan Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the OPEC Fund for International Development for the Universal Access to Water Supply and Sanitation (Phase 1) Program, signed on September 23, 2025, in Bishkek" in first reading.
Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Zhanybek Kerimaliev reported that the project aims to improve access to safe water and sanitation in 126 settlements in the Osh, Chui, and Issyk-Kul regions. The total funding for the program is $200 million. OPEC Fund for International Development will allocate $20 million. The loan term is 20 years, the grace period is 5 years, the interest rate is 1.25% per annum.
