The jury of the 79th Cannes Film Festival will be chaired by South Korean director Park Chan-wook, Qazinform News Agency reports.
The jury also includes American actress and producer Demi Moore, Irish-Ethiopian actress Ruth Negga, Belgian director Laura Wandel, Chinese director Chloé Zhao, Chilean director Diego Céspedes, actor Isaach De Bankolé, screenwriter Paul Laverty and Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård.
The jury will award the Palme d’Or to one of the 22 films in the main competition. The winners will be announced on May 23 at the closing ceremony of the festival.
Park Chan-wook is considered one of the leading figures of contemporary Korean cinema. He gained international recognition with Oldboy, which won the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2004. Among his other works are Thirst, which received the Jury Prize, and Decision to Leave, for which he won the Best Director award.
American actress Demi Moore recently drew critical acclaim for The Substance, which won Best Screenplay at Cannes in 2024. Her career includes a number of iconic roles, including Ghost and G.I. Jane.
Chinese director Chloé Zhao made history with Nomadland, which won Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director.
