Kyrgyz divers continue cleaning bottom of Issyk-Kul lake

Bishkek, May 28, 2026 /Kabar/. Since the beginning of the year, approximately two tons of various debris and over 60,000 meters of fishing nets have been recovered from the bottom of Issyk-Kul lake, Sabyrzhan Alamanov, head of diving service of Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan informs.

According to him, work to clear the waters of various debris, including fishing nets, has been ongoing for four years.

"Today, we're conducting similar cleanup near the sanatorium "Goluboy Issyk-Kul", involving divers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Here, we're primarily collecting household waste: plastic bottles, plastic materials, and anything vacationers bring with them. The debris is recovered manually with the help of divers," he noted.
