Bishkek, Sept. 1, 2026 /Kabar/. Following the Bishkek summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, 28 documents were adopted and signed, Jeenbek Kulubaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, at the final briefing.
According to him, the key results were the adoption of the Bishkek Declaration on the 25th Anniversary of the SCO, the advancement of the organization's institutional reform, and the strengthening of the security architecture.
The heads of state signed a protocol amending and supplementing the SCO Charter. Regulations on the activities of the Universal Center for Countering Security Challenges and Threats in Tashkent and the SCO Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe were also approved.
He noted that the launch of the Center for Combating Transnational Organized Crime in Bishkek is of particular importance for Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyz side has completed the preparation of the necessary infrastructure for its full operation.
In the economic sphere, the countries confirmed their interest in developing industrial cooperation, transport connectivity, logistics, and digital solutions. The agreement was also reached to expedite consultations on the establishment of the SCO Development Bank.
Furthermore, documents were adopted on cooperation in artificial intelligence, climate change, information security, energy, combating synthetic drugs, and preserving biodiversity. A decision was also made to develop SCO cooperation with the African Union.
Kulubaev noted that during Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship, approximately 200 events were held, more than 50 of which were high-level events held directly in the country. Following the summit, Pakistan assumed the SCO chairmanship.
"I am confident that the decisions of the Bishkek summit will contribute to strengthening security, sustainable development, and improving the well-being of the peoples of the SCO member states," the minister concluded.
