Kyrgyz minister meets with UN Women regional director for Europe and Central Asia

Bishkek, March 14, 2025. /Kabar /. Within the framework of the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, a meeting was held between Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic Ravshanbek Sabirov and UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Belen Sanz.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues related to the promotion of gender equality, women's empowerment, as well as cooperation in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Kyrgyz minister noted the important role of partnership between countries and international organizations in achieving sustainable peace, stability and equal opportunities for all.

Particular attention was paid to the recent initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of gender policy, including the holding of a National Forum dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the women's movement in Kyrgyzstan and International Women's Day on March 8.

Minister Sabirov emphasized that the forum had become an important platform for discussing achievements and developing strategies to further strengthen women's rights.

In addition, Sabirov informed Sanz about the preparation of the National Voluntary Review, which will reflect Kyrgyzstan's progress in achieving gender equality within the SDGs. He expressed hope for further cooperation with UN Women in this process, emphasizing the importance of the organization's expert support.

At the end of the meeting, the minister expressed gratitude to UN Women for assistance in organizing the participation of the Kyrgyz delegation in the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, and also confirmed his readiness for further cooperation to promote initiatives aimed at gender equality and sustainable development.
