Bishkek, Feb. 20, 2026. /Kabar/. Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic held a presentation of the "Quality and Innovation in Higher Education" (QIHE) project.
According to the ministry, the project is being implemented under a financing agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association, a member of the World Bank Group.
The minister and heads of the ministry's structural divisions and sectoral departments participated in the introductory event. As noted during the presentation, the QIHE project is a systemic reform aimed at increasing the competitiveness of higher education in Kyrgyzstan, developing scientific research, and introducing innovation.
The project's main objective is to create a sustainable quality ecosystem aligned with national priorities and international standards. At the event, the key results of the current stage of the project, strategic directions for 2026, and a long-term development framework through 2029 were presented.
The main goals include:
- improving the quality of scientific research at universities.
- aligning educational programs with labor market requirements.
- improving the quality assurance system in higher education.
The project aims to comprehensively modernize the higher education system in Kyrgyz Republic, strengthen the scientific potential of universities, and enhance their international competitiveness.
