Bishkek, Sept. 17, 26. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and China are strengthening cooperation in the area of mutual recognition of organic standards and certificates, the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
A delegation from the State Administration of Market Supervision and Regulation of China (SAMR) arrived in Kyrgyzstan on a working visit.
During the visit, the equivalence of organic standards, mutual recognition of certificates, and the development of trade cooperation were discussed at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Deputy Minister Rysgul Akimzhanova and Director of the Department of Processing Industry and Organic Agriculture Zhanara Bakirova participated in the talks.
The main focus was on creating a mechanism for mutual recognition of certification systems and harmonization of organic standards between the two countries. This is expected to reduce administrative and financial barriers and expand access for Kyrgyz organic products to the Chinese market.
Following the talks, the parties reached an agreement in principle on the mutual recognition of organic certificates.
A decision was also made to form a joint working group of specialists from the two countries to harmonize technical regulations and organic standards. Furthermore, the organization of training courses and internships for Kyrgyz specialists was discussed.
The parties expressed interest in further developing organic agriculture, expanding export opportunities, and strengthening cooperation in food security.
