Kyrgyz Parliament committee ratifies bill on construction of two bridges

Bishkek, Feb. 24, 2026. /Kabar/. Jogorku Kenesh committee reviewed and approved the bill on the construction of two bridges at a meeting.

The law on project agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the project 'Reconstruction (construction) of the bridge across the Naryn River on the Bishkek-Osh highway to improve connectivity with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route', signed on December 12, 2025, in Bishkek," was approved in its first reading.

According to Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Ulukbek Zhanibekov, the bill was developed to improve transport links between Kyrgyzstan and neighboring countries by reconstructing the bridge over Naryn River on the Bishkek-Osh highway, thereby ensuring uninterrupted and safe traffic flow. "The bridge will be built in Toktogul district of Jalal-Abad region at kilometer 315 of the Bishkek-Osh highway. Japanese government is providing a grant of 3.19 billion yen, equivalent to 20.416 million US dollars, for the project," he said.

In addition, the committee members reviewed and approved the draft law "On the ratification of the Financing Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Eurasian Development Bank for the Osh Road Improvement Project (construction of two overpass bridges with a 3.2 km road section), signed on December 29, 2025, in Bishkek" in the first reading.
