Bishkek, March 21, 2026 /Kabar/. In Naryn Oblast, where livestock farming plays a key role, agriculture is given special attention, making it impossible to ignore,President Sadyr Zhaparov told during the Nooruz celebrations in Naryn.
According to the president, livestock farming—meat and milk production—forms the backbone of the region's economy. In recent years, livestock numbers have increased, and production volumes have grown.
"Projects totaling approximately 2 billion soms are being implemented in the region to create clusters for meat, milk, honey, feed, and fruit and vegetable production. "We are particularly proud that Naryn honey is exported to Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, and Japan," the president noted.
Sadyr Zhaparov added that although the region is located in a mountain valley and receives water from the mountains, irrigation was still a problem. Over the past five years, approximately 3 billion soms worth of work has been carried out on the irrigation system.
As part of this work, canals were restored, leveled, and concreted. Hydroelectric power stations, hydroelectric posts, and pumping stations were also repaired.
"This year, the Tugol-Sai reservoir in Jumgal and the Shamshy BDR reservoir in Kochkor are scheduled to open. As a result, irrigation will improve on 4,294 hectares, and an additional 3,306 hectares of newly acquired land will be provided with irrigation water," the head of state emphasized.
