Bishkek, March 16, 2026 /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov today, March 16, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana, Samuel Ablakwa.

The meeting discussed issues of strengthening cooperation between the two countries, as well as the prospects for developing the parties' actions in areas of mutual interest.

The head of state emphasized that, despite the geographical distance of the countries, Kyrgyzstan is interested in deepening cooperation with Ghana in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Sadyr Zhaparov noted that active work is underway to strengthen partnerships with African countries. In this regard, he added that last year the Kyrgyz embassy was opened in Ethiopia, and it is planned to open an embassy in Egypt in the near future.

He also drew attention to the fact that in February of this year Kyrgyzstan received observer status in the African Union. This will open up additional opportunities for the development of cooperation within the framework of the organization, including during Ghana's chairmanship in 2027.

In turn, Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Ablakwa conveyed to Sadyr Zhaparov the warm greetings of Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama and an invitation to visit the country next year in connection with the 70th anniversary of Ghana's independence and its chairmanship of the African Union.

Samuel Ablakwa highly appreciated the importance of the reforms underway in Kyrgyzstan, especially the efforts to combat corruption and protect national interests, including the issue of "Kumtor". He also noted that construction, digitalization, tourism and the agro-industrial complex are among the priority areas for cooperation between the two countries.

Finally, President Sadyr Zhaparov and Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Ablakwa expressed confidence that this visit will open a new chapter in strengthening friendly and business relations between the countries.
