Bishkek, Nov. 3, 2025. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law on amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on Food Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, adopted by Jogorku Kenesh on September 18, 2025.
The adopted law was developed to meet the country's domestic demand for basic socially significant food products of domestic production. The law provides for the introduction of corresponding amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on Food Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, which provide for:
- amending existing terms and concepts in the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on Food Security of the Kyrgyz Republic and establishing specific ones;
- ensuring the country's food security by defining the status and enhancing the role of import substitution in replenishing and providing the domestic market with basic socially significant food products of domestic production;
- determining the extent of achievement on food security, by providing and satisfying the country's population with sufficient food products.
