Bishkek, Oct. 30, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan provides the population with 6 out of 9 socially significant types of food products for the first nine months of the year, Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.

According to the ministry, these include:

  • potatoes
  • milk
  • meat
  • vegetables
  • eggs
  • sugar

The remaining 3 types of products are partially provided through imports:

  • bakery products (cereals)
  • vegetable oil
  • fruits and berries

It is noted that since 2024, Kyrgyzstan has begun fully supply with sugar, which was previously also imported from abroad. As for meat, the country fully provides with beef and lamb. The work to achieve complete self-sufficiency in poultry meat is actively carry on.

At the same time, meat prices in neighboring countries like Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are significantly higher. Therefore, at one time, farmers and livestock breeders exported these products in order to obtain higher profits. However, to stabilize meat prices, the state promptly took measures: the government imposed a ban on meat exports and state controls the prices, the ministry said.

The ministry also emphasized that due to the increase in domestic production of chicken eggs, the import was banned. Currently, Kyrgyzstan not only fully provides with chicken eggs, but also exports them. For example, in the period from August to January 2025, 3.3 million eggs were exported.
