Bishkek, Sept. 28, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and China are exploring the possibility of using modern technologies to develop and increase the productivity of low-productivity lands.
According to the Climate Finance Center, during a working visit by a delegation from Northwest University, China, from September 20 to 24, meetings were held with representatives of government agencies, academic institutions, and local communities of Kyrgyzstan.
Chinese experts presented the experience and technologies of China and Mongolia in developing marginal lands. The parties discussed the possibility of adapting these approaches to Kyrgyzstan's conditions, preparing a joint project proposal, and implementing pilot initiatives.
Furthermore, at the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, the parties discussed the concept of a project for developing marginal lands, as well as the application of modern technologies and further cooperation.
The practical part of the visit took place in the Ak-Tala district. Chinese specialists visited land plots, met with farmers and local community representatives, examined the land conditions, and collected soil samples for further analysis.
A technical seminar was also held at the Climate Finance Center, attended by representatives of research institutes, universities, government agencies, donors, and development partners. Participants reviewed China's experience in restoring and increasing the productivity of low-yield lands.
The delegation also visited the Kyrgyz Research Institute of Agriculture and the Kyrgyz Research Institute of Livestock and Pastures, where they learned about their research and experimental plots.
