Bishkek, Sept.16, 2026 /Kabar/. Dinara Kemelova, the Special Representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan on the Mountain Agenda, met with Ingo Ammermann, Federal Executive Director of the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU).
The Kyrgyz side highly commended NABU’s long-standing work in Kyrgyzstan regarding the conservation of biodiversity and mountain ecosystems, as well as the protection of the snow leopard population.
The parties discussed the further development of the wildlife rehabilitation center in Kemin. The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in further developing cooperation in areas such as the protection of mountain ecosystems, the conservation of biodiversity and the snow leopard, the protection of glaciers as water sources, and the training of specialists in these fields, as well as support for festivals dedicated to snow leopard conservation in Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, Dinara Kemelova also provided information on the upcoming Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25," scheduled for October 21–23, 2027, and invited NABU to actively participate in the summit's events, including those marking International Snow Leopard Day on October 23, 2027.
Katja Kaupisch, Deputy Director for International Relations, and Tolkunbek Asykulov, Director of NABU in the Kyrgyz Republic, also took part in the meeting.
