Bishkek, Sept. 11, 2026 /Kabar/. During Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Education Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva's visit to Slovakia, a bilateral meeting was held in Bratislava with Slovakia's Minister of Education, Research, Development, and Youth, Tomáš Drucker.
The Ministry of Education reported that the meeting took place on the eve of the Regional Launch of the PISA 2025 Results and marked an important step in developing bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Slovakia in the field of education.
Kyrgyzstan's Ambassador to Austria, Nurzhan Shaildabekova, also participated in the event.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest. Particular attention was paid to the ongoing reform in Kyrgyzstan to transition to a 12-year school education model, initiated by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kendirbaeva briefed the Slovak side on the progress of the reform, as well as related areas of work, including the digitalization of the educational process, the implementation of a unified electronic state education management system aimed at reducing bureaucratic barriers, the development of preschool education, and increasing teachers' salaries.
Drucker shared Slovakia's experience in implementing educational reforms, noting the importance of a consistent approach, public trust, and time to achieve sustainable results.
Special attention was paid to the implementation of artificial intelligence in education, ensuring equal access for students to high-quality STEM education, and the development of technical and vocational education. In this regard, the parties noted the importance of training qualified personnel based on labor market needs. It was noted that approximately 4,000 Kyrgyz citizens currently work in Slovakia. Given Slovakia's developed industrial sector, including the automotive industry and the presence of large international companies, the parties emphasized the potential for exchanging experience in vocational education.
Following the meeting, the Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Education, Research, Development, and Youth of Slovakia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of education.
