Bishkek, July 30, 2026. /Kabar/. The volume of foreign trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan has reached $1.3 billion, Minister of Economy Bakyt Sydykov informs.
According to him, the goal is to increase trade turnover between the two countries to $2 billion in the near future.
“There are serious grounds for this, the interest of enterprises and companies of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in mutual cooperation is high. The necessary financial and regulatory infrastructure is also being formed.
The bilateral Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund is currently operating. A number of investment projects are being considered within its framework. This mechanism will form the basis for further expanding trade turnover in the future,” the minister said.
In addition, he noted that the parties are interested in strengthening cooperation in the fields of industrial development, machine building and pharmaceuticals. Joint projects in the production, processing and export of agricultural products are also being considered.
“In the near future, projects for the production and processing of agricultural products are expected to be implemented in Naryn, Issyk-Kul and other regions. The products produced will be exported to Uzbekistan.
It is also known that it is planned to build large logistics centers in Kyrgyzstan. Currently, work in this direction is still being considered and is expected to be implemented in the future,” Sydykov said.
The minister also identified the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway as the largest strategic project. A common transport and logistics infrastructure will develop around it, contributing to the expansion of regional trade.
“We are part of a single region and a common market. Both sides are interested in developing cooperation. Each country has its own potential, and it is important to implement them together,” he said.
